The Atherstone Booktowns 'New Blood' crime writing and readers event proved to be a success. The day which was held in conjunction with the library's 'Murder She Wrote' promotion, included a mini-mystery writing competition where budding authors had to provide a murder story, set in a bookshop or library, in just 50 words.

On-line publishers Creme de la Crime gave a talk , and the was also a chance to meet novelists from Authors Online.

To end the day a murder mystery banquet was held at The Atherstone Red lion Hotel, where guests had to guess 'whodunnit.

Author Adrian Magson, was signing books in Throckmorton's Bookshop, on the Market Square Atherstone. The first book in the series, featuring Riley Gavin, a young female investigative reporter and laid-back former military cop Frank Palmer is 'No Peace For The Wicked' . The two get told not to interfere after a cold blooded execution of two long-forgotten London gangland members on England's South coast, but when two more executions take place, they soon find themselves caught up in the crossfire for control of the newly emerging criminal empire.

The second book 'No Help For The Dying' has the pair drawn in to a deadly search to find out why teenage runaways are dying in mysterious circumstances on London streets and why a girl is murdered 10 years after vanishing without trace.

His new book 'No Sleep For the Dead' is about Riley Gavin and Frank Palmer, who are in deadly danger from, art thieves, black gangstas, British Intelligence and a bitter old woman out for revenge.

Proprietor of Throckmorton’s, Peter Playdon said the event had been a great success, and that he'd had a steady stream of customers throughout the day. Throckmorton’s specialise’s in crime and literary fiction, art and photography, cinema and music, biography, history and politics.
Peter and Molly sell books in their Atherstone shop and on line at abebooks.com and process orders through Abe or direct.
