I note that images of my car have been uploaded to a site with public access.

As permission was not sought for those images to be made public, I respectfully request that they be removed immediately.

I've sought advice and I've been advised that as they were taken in a public place and there were no restrictions at the show on photography and there were no signs saying no photography or restricting the use of images taken, either around the show or on any particular vehicle, I can do as I please with the images.
I've been advised to blank out numberplates if you so wish though.
Is there a reason why You don't want images in public of a car you entered in a public show in a public street.
I would be greatful if you'd give permission to use them, as it's a not for profit site and the only reason they are on there is to promote the town and the show next year.

Permission was not sought to use the images, and would not have been given. The reason being personal security matters. You are well aware of my occupation so are many others. They could use the information in those images to locate my home address.
Please delete those images asap.

Also, if you had bothered to ask, it would have been pointed out that it was written on the notice on the car, asking people to refrain from photographing the vehicle.

I don't need permision to take them or use them. You also can't be identified by the images as the registration mark is not visible.
I'll think about it and decide tomorrow but I'll probably remove them as I don't want the hassle, I've done this for fun, to promote the event, the town and next years show. The gallery is separate from the forum because its linked to from several forums in order to achieve the above. I'll be discussing this with the organisers as it doesn't enter in to the spirit of the event.

I will ask you again, politely, please remove the images of my vehicle.
When you where taking the photographs it was not explained that they would be for public display. This is an apparent deception on your part. I, along with many others, beleived they were for personal use, not public consumption.
For this and the other reasons stated above, I am asking you to remove them as soon as possible.

Please note, that for future reference, if you wish to publish any photographs of either me or my vehicle or any property that can be traced to me, it would be polite to ask such permission prior to publishing such images.

To finalise, please remove all images as soon as possible.

Thank you.

No photographs or images of any town event would get put on display anywhere if we had to ask permission of every property owner and person on them. It goes without saying that images are going to be used. I'm also not the only person or site thats published images on the net. Atherstone organised has quite a few, some taken by dave, geoff, or used under licence. Dave s added some of the carnival to another site and here, and so did I. To expect dave or me to go and ask every person in the crowd or on floats permision to use is unrealistic. It's also not needed as you'd expect photography at a public event. If it were on a normal day you'd expect some privacy even in a public place and your point is valid.
Whats about when the events go on web cam. ?

I've removed them out of courtesy.

Thank you. Your point about other events is noted, but not exactly relevant given my situation.
It would have been polite, given that situation, had you asked before hand.
Please bear this in mind for future reference.

In future you'll know if you enter a vehicle in a show in the town square that it will end up on the net. You can't stop it . I thought I was being told that you could if you put a notice on it but thats only on private property, they assumed I meant it was in the hall grounds or similar.

"In future you'll know if you enter a vehicle in a show in the town square that it will end up on the net. You can't stop it" .

That sounds very much like a threat to me. I have explained my reasons for requesting anonymity, they are valid reasons vis-a-vis my situation.

I did not expect to be threatened in such a way in a public forum. Or is this how you normally run things?

It's a statement of fact iceman, based on the above link, not a threat. Many people take pictures at events and your vehicle is probably on other sites already. As it's not breaking any laws they are under no obligation to remove them. It's simply saying that you now know this so you are entering at your own risk of photos being taken and put on the net. I won't put any on, why would I when I know you don't want them on.
Have you checked the many other Atherstone sites for pics?

Edit
You didn't check your own site very well did you?
