I've just been on the Scarecrow Festival site and To my surprise I read that it has been cancelled and the committee wound up!.
Apparently due to the committee having increased commitments and lack of support.
Yet another event claiming that they've got a lack of support and and cancelling an event without even asking for that support in local press.

Not just 08, it's cancelled permanently.
Thank God for that, Witherley residents can have their village back over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Best thing the committee did was to make that final decision.

It's how they've gone about it that annoys me, they say nothing in the press, then I find out from there web site a few weeks before the event. Not once have they asked in local press or web sites, atherstoneforun, nuneatonweb or warwickshireonline and then they moan that there's no interest in a committee, well excuse me but how the hell are we supposed to know you need extra bodies, I'm not psychic and neither are others. Now how are people supposed to know its been cancelled, it's not in the press, not been posted on here. People come from miles away to see it, I've got friends coming from Coventry and Lutterworth to see it.
I think it's a disgusting way to go about things, and they aren't the first, Caldecote has done the same too and I'm not sure we'll have a funday next year, I missed the meeting about scrapping it I was ill and haven't caught up yet.
If the public are good enough to attend then they can at least communicate with the public, it's not hard to nowdays.

Personally, I don't want 5000 strangers wandering round my village, peering into my house, clogging up the village with their cars in 1st gear.
You want scarecrows, go look in a field, I don't want them in my village.
