Paul has pulled the plug on the forum for the time being at least. www.atherstone-online.co.uk/forum_redirect.htm I can't fault him for his actions. After last nights attacks accusing him of being incompetent for not turning on verifications I'd have done the same. I've been critical of him in the past, for some of his moderating decisions, and for unfair comments against me and other members. I also asked to be able to shape the forum to develop the fun side so as to be able to keep it away from serious debate, this needed more moderator privileges which Paul wasn't prepared to give. Therefore I set this forum up. I've never attacked Paul on a publicly on a personal or business level. I've always stuck to what I believed to be relevant facts. Spammers on the forum are not robots they are real people being paid pennies to do it, they often use plausible names and real email addresses. Even if verifications are enabled, that still means Paul has got to guess which are genuine and which are spammers. It also means people waiting to post until that account has been verified. Hot mail accounts can be made up in seconds, IP's can be changed in seconds. Admins and mods are not paid and it's unfair to expect them to sit at a PC as if they were paid. People refuse to post here because they believe they are staying faithfull to the other forum, also that I shouldn't have started this forum as the other forum is the official towns forum, it isn't, there isn't an official forum, thats for the Borough Council to set up. Those people come here and read whats said but won't post. Thats your loss. I'm happy with this forum, I'm happy posting here in the knowledge that I get to have my say. The same people haven't posted on Atherstone online recently, again your loss. |

It is a sad loss that the decision was taken to close the other forum, one that will be sadly missed.
Strange to, that the recent troubles only really started after some members who had been barred decided to return.

Macca is a work during the week and rarely accesses from work. So I had to keep logging on in his name to move it. And it wasn't just porn. There was two rape scene put on the skateboard thread. I decided not to post until I knew it was well clean and properly moderated and a secure administration in place.
I don't have a problem with porn per say, but when it is in an open forum where kids have access I do. If folk want to look at it they can access it freely with out it being pushed onto folk that don't wish to see it.
Macca told me yesterday when I was at work that things had kicked off on there the night before and I did have a quick look last night when I finally made it home in the weather. I decided to keep out of it all; as I hadn't posted in a few weeks it wouldn't be correct to but in on what looked like a personal row. Then he told me this morning more had gone on, so when I came to look it had all been pulled.
I just hope this hasn't caused problems with our large circle of friends.
Although I'm sure it has with some. I can at least say I have not fallen out with anyone. What happens between others is just that (between them).

LoL Duh @ me I never realised that was lizard backwards.
I've just realised missy's post looks normal on IE but in firefox has some strange symbols. I'll try and find out why that is. Missy did you use a word processor to write that ?

I used that forum on a regular basis. My reason for not using this forum, even though I signed up for membership here last year, is because none of my friends were posting here. Yes, I have browsed here, and no, I haven't posted, but not because I have a 'loyalty' to another forum but because I haven't seen my friends on here. I'll always tend to go where my friends are, that's all. |
