Mc Carthy stone are proposing to build retirement flats on this site. It will only be accessible from South Street via an archway and will only have about 21 car parking spaces which for for the amount of units and to cope with the amount of visitors such developments attract is not enough. www.consultation-online.co.uk/atherstone/proposals |

I've now received the planning application notification from NWBC and I'm amazed at the claims by the applicant on the council web site that they've consulted with local residents and people in the wider area about the scheme. NO contact what so ever has been received from Mccarthy stone. No letters and no notice of exhibitions. I found the web consultation by accident, which didn't work.

In typical NWBC fashion they've given this unwanted development the go ahead despite numerous objections about the size and scale of the development and lack of car parking spaces.
Demolition contractors are taking the old buildings down. No security fence at first, but now a plain unmarked fence without bolts on it so anyone can lift it. unsafe working practices, balancing materials on cherry pickers etc
