lizadaw: Did anyone see .This Morning'on TUESDAY WHERE THEY SHOWED INVITED CHILDREN TO TRY OUT THE NEW 'MUST HAVE' TOYS OUT for christmas THIS YEAR? Mostly expensive junk which will end up in next years car boots. By the time they got around to showing each one in turn , they either didn't work or the batteries had run out. I THOUGHT THERE WAS A CRISIS.AND YET PEOPLE STILL PAY OUT FOR USELESS CHINESE RUBBISH. The cheapest was'only 29.99'.

Copied this to here because I dont know my password for that chat box at the moment.
I have no idea what this years must have toys are but 'only 29.99' is a lot of money to me. Them stating 'only' doesn't make it any cheaper. It also doesn't make the plastic rubbish last any longer either. I'm a great believer in Christmas, I think it should be very special for Children and adults alike but I do think we're ripped off at Christmas. Its too commercial, too much emphasis on the must have presents, not enough on family, food or the 12 days of Christmas. We seem to celebrate the 12 days before Christmas now. Even the town lights are off by the 4th, and no matter if you count the 5th or 6th as 12th night that's still short by at least 2 nights. Its a shame Cos my dad, grandad really but he was always dad to me, He was polish, came here during the war. In Poland they used to celebrate 12th night, they'd give presents and sing carols around the tree before taking it down. I do think we miss out these days.

some people buy expensive toys for their children due to lack of imagination some parents buy expensive toys for their children as down to guilt - always working, never home - this will make up for that some children demand expensive toys according to peer pressure it is a commercial trap that will continue some can afford this expense but others cannot but say they can to avoid losing pride

It was on tv last night showing how quiet and isolated Chrildren are with technology toys rather than good old fashioned proper toys. With the proper toys the room was a hive of activity, noise, talking, playing, running around. With IT they just sat there silently clicking away not talking to each other not looking at each other.
