The defunct Atherstone Chamber of Trade and Commerce is about to be given a new lease of life thanks to a town businessman At a recent meeting of interested traders Geoff Taylor, a tile retailer in the Market Square discussed re-forming the chamber to see the organisation could best influence the future for business. "I want to see this town become a comprehensive source of all types of products for everyone,"he said. "We need a voice in planning matters and all future developments." A meeting will now be held on Wednesday June 14th, where officers will be elected to speak for all types of business. "We want to include links with both retail, distribution, service and manufacturing concerns so that we can all move forward to improve commerce generally within the town, " Mr Taylor said. Nominations to serve on the committee of the new chamber should be sent to Mrs J Reading, C/O Masterclean, 25 Long Street Atherstone, CV9 1AY, by Sunday June 4th. Source Tamworth Herald

Bookshops seem to be doing ok, we were promised that they'd all have cafe's and tea rooms or side lines such as a music shop. So were is my music shop? I want it, you promised. They can't be doing too bad, two are just books, one serves tea and scones, one's got a museum attached.

I wish them well, Although, most shops in Atherstone seem to think they only have to think about there own business, they forget that they are part of a town and that all business are needed if people are going to shop there. People won't come to their shop if all the others are empty.

Well I wish them luck too, but perhaps they'll all pull together this time. Are you going to go to the next meeting MH ?
