The church celebrated it's 600th anniversay in 1985 and this was the reason for the above royal visit, and the town celebrations 'festival 85' A plaque outside the church commemorates this Cn you see the face on the wall?

More than likely a trick of the light, but I noticed it on my screen when taking it.

Christmas light facts Atherstone first had street Christmas lights in 1985 after having some up in the town centre in the summer, without lamps though, to decorate it for the royal visit. They were on hire and were later purchased. 2002 had no lights due to local incompetence, the old lights could have been repaired with About a thousand pound to last that year. Some of the newer ones are still in use and needed no repairs. The lights wouldn't have interfered with the CCTV, and the wires were not changed when the new set of lights were installed. The electrics were upgraded but this wasn't essential.
The present Christmas lights are owned and installed by three different groups, the market square is owned by the Town Council and installed rather poorly by a company they contract to do the work. Long street, Station Station, Coleshill street, Coleshill Road, Ratcliffe Road are done by a Christmas light group, they did have a committee, but I'm not sure how they do it now. The committee, which I was on when it first began, raised the funds from donations by public and local businesses. The lights were only ever put up correctly by plm for the first year. The second and third of the 3 yr lease to buy were bodged and showed the town up and the committee. The third group is welcome street and long street, owned by me, put up by me, tested and insured by donations. Considering this, I think they are pretty good.

Has a person who goes by the name of d.pickard in the shadows, pretending to be someone else it makeing it all a bit unhappy.
It looks as if he's faking identity as well as pretending to have a life that he doesn't.
