I thought that Jenkins old shop was going to be a book shop, Evans and Short, is that not going to happen now? I can't wait for Gregg's to open, I was told it's going to be a restaurant too.

I thought the now Martins is the former newsstat store? Didn't it used to be called something like that before Dillons?

That shop originally started out about by the pedestrian entrance to woolpackway car park, by the Zebra crossing. It was one shop, then two shops knocked in to one as they expanded, they were a bit like jenkins's style of shops if I remember right. Back then called shiltons. It moved to long street in to what used to be C H Locks Iromongers Plumbers and Builders Merchants, and the old shop got knocked down. Eventually they changed the name to Newstat, I'm not sure if that was before the move or after. I'm sure they sold out but maybe wrong but they or the next owners sold to dillons. That was before 1996.

Newest Chinese is of course crystals opposite woolpack way, but yes that was where I meant although it's been under offer for a very long time and I noticed today that the licence application has been taken down. Does that mean they have got it or haven't got it. I know someone else that may be interested in the building though. Image taken with permission.
