I went round barsby close today. I was shocked to see that touch stone have decided to replace wooden front doors with UPVc with euro locks and windows.
There is a major security flaw in these type of locks that has been hushed up due to the fact that hundreds of thousands of the things have been fitted to UPVc doors all over the country. Unless Touch Stone are having the new revised type that are attack proofed then I strongly advice you to think twice about having your wooden door with double locking rim lock which is quite secure, with a UPVc one that will take seconds to get into.
It has become quite obvious to me over recent years and with recent events, that all of the housing associations and NWBC are ignoring security and putting cost first. They are also doing the same with fire safety and communal lighting. Companies such as newey electrical are booking jobs down as being done, when in fact they aren't.
Internal quality doors being used as external doors may have been adequate 40 years ago but they aren't now, they aren't strong enough to accept a mortise lock, and the rim lock can not be changed to a dead lock due to NWBC insisting on fitting a medium size that is specially made for them.
