Dan Byles MP supports local Atherstone petition for safer roads November 18th, 2013
Local residents in Atherstone have enlisted the support of North Warwickshire & Bedworth MP Dan Byles over their campaign to introduce traffic calming measures on Margaret Road.
They are also pressing for a solution to the traffic problems outside Outwoods Primary School.
The last few years has seen a number of serious road incidents in the area including cars crashing through resident’s garden walls.
Local residents Elizabeth Hill and Doris Kimberley led the campaign and met with Dan Byles MP this week.
Dan said:
“The traffic problems have been an issue for residents near to Margaret Road and the primary school for a number of years, and their safety and that of the pupils is paramount. My office has been assisting Mrs Hill and Mrs Kimberley and I commend them on their campaign. I have now contacted the County Council so that we can take action over this”.
The petition states: ‘for the installation of significant traffic calming measures along the length of Margaret Road, Atherstone, Warwickshrie and the incorporation of a solution to parking and traffic issues associated with Outwoods Primary School, Southlands, Atherstone, Warwickshire.’ It currently has 278 signatures and contains 16 pages of photos detailing previous incidents.
