Hello everyone, I'm not just new to this website but I'm new to atherstone in general. Moved in a week ago me and my boyfriend come from a place called croydon near London, hopefully you can give me a few good tips like the best places to eat and best pubs and stuff I haven't even seen the high street yet!

hello. welcome to Atherstone. It's not a bad place to live. I think its better than croydon. The traffic is certainly better that's for sure. You've probably been out and found your way around the pubs already, if not why not ? They're a bit quiet these days but we have some good live entertainment on in some of them at the weekends. Best places to eat? I'm a fish and chip shop person so I'm not the best person to give advice.

Hello Annaseed, welcome to Atherstone. My partner and I moved to Atherstone a year ago and really like the town. We have visited most of the pubs, but yet to do a complete pub crawl! In terms of places to eat, we like San Giovannis (http://www.sangiovanni.co.uk/) in Sheepy Parva - but is quite dear, so more of a treat Anyway, hope you settle in ok. Lisa

Hey thanks a lot guys some really useful information, I'm quite the fan of fish and chips myself so I will have to check it out! I love all the shops and area is lovely, and I've heard something about an annual ball game? That sounds rather quirky!

It's very rough, and makes no sense. There's no goals and no point to it really, other than to be the person holding the ball at 5. It usually goes out of play , no one kicks it after about 4.20 because idiots can't understand the rules and ruin it for everyone else. There's no fun in watching 40 minutes of men huffing and puffing, and the scuffles in the scrum.
