I haven't been in the place yet, I wasn't even aware that it was called that. I thought it was still called the Barge and Bridge. I wonder if it will get any trade of the Coventry canal. More pubs in Atherstone need refurbishing, like this and the Lounge on Station Street. I'll have to get someone to come out with me for a meal. Hope the steaks are nicely cooked, I don't like them red, and hope they're bigger than beef burgers.

Thanks mad hatter. Don,t Quote me on the name of the steak house that is just what i have been told (shanghai)? I hope to be visiting the place soon and so will submit a posting , if anyone is interested and let you know what we thought. Up until now we have always used the George and Dragon in Coleshill for steaks (and there unbelievable mixed grills).

Never been anywhere in coleshill, only kings head and clock, but a good while since I've been to either, we stopped going due to the management of them at the time. Red lion (bar meals)we went to, and it was always very nice, but recently they seem to have big problems. Once we went in and were told no meals after 6 on a Sunday, then again we were told no meals at all on a Sunday, yet today I went past and read on the board that meals are served until 7.30 on a sunday and 9 on other days. Maybe I'll Email them and ask for clarification. I'll have to find someone to go over coleshill with now and try the George and Dragon.

I understand this now, its the restaurant part thats called Shanghai Steakhouse. The pub is called The Barge an Bridge. The name Shanghai was a nickname for the place back when it was the westwood hotel. The estate at the back was/is nicknamed china town so the hotel got the nickname to suit as its main clientel were from that estate.
