Atherstone
Dickens Night has become a longstanding festive event in the town of Atherstone Warwickshire, which encompasses the switching on of the town's Christmas lights.
This ever popular event takes place this year on Saturday 29th November 2014. Why not come along and join in the fun - everyone is welcome. This year we have a brass band, steel band, samba band, a magician outside the memorial hall, a craft hall in the memorial hall, teas, coffee and cake.
In the Church you'll find performances by Wendy Morten dance academy, Star Wars characters, and tea and coffee for sale.
In the Market Square there'll be a variety of charity, craft and food stalls, Caribbean Jerk Chicken, a hog roast, face painter and Mulled Wine and cider for sale outside the Angel.
Down Long Street is Barkers fun fair, food vans selling candy floss, sweets, burgers, jacket potatoes, crepes, churros, hot carvery batches, and hot pork batches, and more mulled wine. stalls selling glow products, balloons, and gifts.
More fair will be on the bust station, featuring one of Danters Boosters. at 50metres high it's sure to impress. but will you dare to ride it ?
Father Christmas's procession will leave the memorial hall at 4.45, travel along Long Street to Anker radio's stage.The Mayor will switch on the Christmas lights at approx 5 pm.
The night will end with a grand £5500 fireworks display over the Railway station house. viewing from the end of Long Street.

Bulkington: Tuesday 18 November. Lights will be turned on at 6pm Nuneaton: Saturday 22 November. Lights will be turned on at 5pm. Bedworth: Saturday 29 November. Lights will be turned on at 5pm.
christmas decorationsChristmas is fast approaching and preparations are well on the way to make this one to remember. There are three nights where the Mayor and Santa (if he's not too busy) will be turning on the Christmas Lights across the Borough.
First is Bulkington on Tuesday 18 November. Lights will be turned on at 6pm. Then on Saturday 22 November we have Nuneaton's and last but not least is Bedworth, on Saturday 29 November. For both of these nights, the lights will be turned on at 5pm, followed by firework finalés.
At each event there will be live entertainment, festive food, charity stalls, childrens rides and most important of all - lots of festive spirit.
This is embodied by the Council - who are offering free parking in all Council car parks after 4pm on both Nuneaton and Bedworth Christmas light switch on nights, respectively.
"Christmas can be an expensive time of the year, so with free parking after 4pm at both Nuneaton and Bedworth's Christmas Light switch ons, we hope this will go a small way in making everyone's Christmas a little easier. May I take this opportunity to wish everyone in the Borough, a Happy Christmas!"

THOUSANDS of people are gearing up to officially welcome the start of the festive season with the annual Christmas lights switch-on in Burton and South Derbyshire.
Commonwealth Games golden boy Adam Peaty will switch on Burton's Christmas lights at 5pm on Sunday, whereas in South Derbyshire the festive season will be launched at 7pm on Friday, November 28, in Swadlincote.
Both events will feature a variety of Christmas-themed events including live music performances, craft fairs and fireworks.

The annual Christmas lights switch on, followed by a spectacular fireworks display over St Mary's Church.
A great way to kick start the festive season in Hinckley with the Christmas Lights Switch on and Tin Hat Fair, sponsored by FlexPlus Recruitment.
There will be lots of entertainment, including performance by local artist Demi Victoria and attractions for all the family throughout the evening. The lights will be switched on at 6.30pm followed by a fantastic fireworks display over St Mary’s Church.
There will be Santa, a grotto, reindeer, live entertainment, market stalls and late night shopping. The Tin Hat Fair will be in Regent Street on Friday and Saturday night. There will be free activities in the United Reformed Church.

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and the Hinckley United Reformed Church invite local disabled and elderly residents to come into Hinckley to see the Christmas lights.
There will also be hot drinks, mince pies and festive entertainment available at the United Reformed Church.
Castle Street, Market Place and Regent Street will be closed to accommodate those residents who would not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy the Christmas lights.

Commonwealth Games golden boy Adam Peaty will switch on Burton's Christmas lights at 5pm on Sunday, whereas in South Derbyshire the festive season will be launched at 7pm on Friday, November 28, in Swadlincote.
Both events will feature a variety of Christmas-themed events including live music performances, craft fairs and fireworks.
Bob Wheeler, leader of South Derbyshire District Council, said: "Every year the switching on of the Christmas lights extravaganza seems to get more and more popular, and everyone has pulled together to make sure this will be another memorable event.
"The people of South Derbyshire love a celebration and we hope they are able to take advantage of everything that's going on in Swadlincote over three great days.
"It promises to be a very happy start to Christmas 2014."
The countdown to the switch-on in South Derbyshire begins at 11am with a performance from Springfield Junior School youngsters on the stage on The Delph.
Touch FM will host in the evening featuring music from Through the Rain, April Davies, Open Road, Mitch Corner and India Brunton between 5pm and 7pm.
From 4.30pm, at Swadlincote Ski and Snowboard Centre, Santa himself will head down the slope with a torchlit procession.
Thanks to local Rotarians, children will also get the chance to tell Father Christmas what's on their wish list as Santa's grotto will be located in the car park behind HSBC, in High Street, from 5pm on the Friday.
As well as the light switch-on in Burton, visitors to the festivities will enjoy music by the host of the event, presenter of Touch FM's Breakfast Show, Mark O'Sullivan.
The festivities begin at 10am on Sunday with Mr Peaty turning on the lights at 5pm and will conclude with a fantastic firework display from Pyrotex Fireworx, choreographed with music.
Councillor Robert Hardwick, deputy leader for cultural services, said: "It promises to be an exciting afternoon of entertainment concluding with a firework display choreographed to music, so come along and join the festivities."
