PROPOSALS to build more than 140 new homes in Polesworth were given the go-ahead at a planning meeting this week. A total of 143 dwellings are to be built on the land south of Grendon Road – 30 per cent of which will be affordable housing. Speaking about Monday night's announcement, Polesworth East Councillor Mick Stanley told the Herald: "First thing's first, it's good news for the people of Polesworth and North Warwickshire because I have been promised that they will be the ones who will get first choice of the homes. "And while affordable housing is very much needed, I do have concerns about the potential traffic increase. I have put forward a request for a pedestrian crossing but the money is not yet available.
