It was revealed at the Atherstone town parish plan meeting held at the red lion on Tuesday 26th Sept that the law courts in Atherstone were up for sale to the highest bidder despite a strong statement being made by the public by way of hundreds of signatures that The towns folk want it retained for public use. Mr vero went into detail at the meeting as to how he'd discovered it for sale in a birmingham newspaper, the only place it had been publically advertised he said according to the agents when he contacted them. The only other way they have tried to get a buyer was by contacting people who they 'think' may be interested. If any local company were to be in a financial position as to be able to buy the building, they wouldn't even be aware it was for sale. I can't remember th exact date but I seem to think it was the 2nd of this month that all offers had to be in by. More here... www.atherstone.org.uk/court-sale-row.html

I heard they were going to build an illegal immigrant hotel on the site.
