THE TEAM behind the story of King Richard III has been named on a prestigious list. Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre along with the King Richard III Visitor Centre and Leicester Cathedral have been named on the Smithsonian's 21st Century Life List of 25 Great New Places to See. The list features wonders from across the world and was published in the September issue of the magazine. The three Richard-related locations, who were part of the wider collaboration which successfully delivered the reinterment events in March, were all mentioned in the article and collectively ranked at number 12 on the presigious list. They are now continuing to work together to develop the king's story. Councillor Richard Blunt, Leicestershire County Council's cabinet member for museums, added: "Bosworth Battlefield is an important part of the Richard III experience, as is demonstrated by this list in the Smithsonian. "The centre has seen a ten per cent increase in visitor numbers this year and this is further recognition of its continuing success and appeal to a wide audience." Other entries in the list include the Ellis Island Hospital in New York City and the Cern Laboratory in Switzerland.
