Hi everyone, only just discovered this great site you've set up. I'm originally from the town after being bought here since the first houses were built in Royal Meadow Drive in the 60s. My family occupied No 25 and spent many memorable years here, mainly very happy years but also some hard and sad times that many others experience too. None of my family now reside in the town but we all return occasionally to look up old friends and see what's changed. Everyone says "nowt ever happens in the town and nowt's changed" but believe me since I left to join the Forces in 78 the town has changed considerably and in a lot of ways for the better. I miss a lot of things about it that'll never come back and never be the same, but the people in the town are survivors and prosper on. It's good to see that a lot of people still take great interest in the good of the town and what happens in it along with some of the town's traditions to which there is now a few new ones that have been created. A real shame that the old carnivals have become a thing of the past being led by our famous scout band though. Keep up the good work guys and thank you for accepting me as a new member. Kind regards. Mark Welsh.
