With the sale of the Bodaceas immanent www.daveyco.com/NewsEngineer.asp?UID=2643&page=4336 , I thought I'd ask what would you do with the place? would you change the name, the miss-spelt Bodaceas is quite unique among pub names and as far as I know no other pub in Great Britain shares the name. It should of course be boudica also Boudicca, formerly better known as Boadicea. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boudica why that name? well... "The location of Boudica's defeat is unknown. Most historians favour a site in the West Midlands, somewhere along the Roman road now known as Watling Street. Kevin K. Carroll suggests a site close to High Cross in Leicestershire, on the junction of Watling Street and the Fosse Way, which would have allowed the Legio II Augusta, based at Exeter, to rendezvous with the rest of Suetonius's forces.[12] Manduessedum (Mancetter), near the modern day town of Atherstone in Warwickshire, has also been suggested.[13] More recently a new discovery of Roman artifacts in Kings Norton close to Metchley Camp has suggested another possibility.[14] "Anyway, would you keep it the same or change it? And what would you do with the pub to make it successful again?

Two years on and Bodaceas has finally bitten the dust. The new name for the pub formally know as Bodaceas is... The Bear and Ragged Staff. Which I find quite a strange name to choose considering that we already have a white bear , and its sign is a Bear with a Staff. The pub is now being marketed as 'a proper pub'. I'm a bit surprised at that because it still looks like a working mens club from outside. I said the same to the last owner, and I still hold the same opinion. The outside needs refurbishing. Get rid of the flat roof, mark the car park out, do some landscaping, car park signs, and personally I'd deck the front area and make an outside seating area and garden. A block paving path to the entrance ramp from each side to provide slip free disabled access. I haven't been in yet but I'll write a review when I do. The Bear and Ragged Staff Public House (Formerly Bodaceas) Sheepy Road, Atherstone, North Warwickshire. Telephone 01827 714800

I had to laugh, I've just drove past and the front entrance way wall has been clad in logs, It does look odd. We could put Santa Claus in there next dickens night, put reindeer in the carpark and run a train up to the Market Square. Lap land Bodaceas. £30 quid a ticket.
It really does look bad though, If they're trying to convince the public that the place is a nice comfortable proper pub with real ale and live entertainment they're going a funny way about it, it just looks like like a shanty town working mens club with that tacked on the front.
And even worse, butch dingle was installing it!
Knock it down and build a McDonalds I say.

Just knock it down and build a skate park, there are enough decent pubs in the town and surrounding area.
