Mc Donald's have exclusively revealed to Atherstone-forum plans to transform a local car sales showroom into a Mc Donald's fast food restaurant. Mc Donald's hope to get vital feedback from the site which will be used to gauge public support for the outlet. Pete Lizard of Mc Donald public relations said the company were looking to build a top class franchise utilising the existing building. The development would not affect the shop next door or the petrol station. car parking and drive through facilities would be provided at the rear of the building, with the drive through being on a loop from the car park entrance along the back of the building and back in to the car park. The front will be transformed in to an external patio seating area to match Mc Donald's new style of of restaurants. The large glass windows of the car show room will be kept to keep the restaurant open and spacious. Bright plush sofas and chairs will continue this theme of light and space indoors. The restaurant may even have a book shop selling health and fitness books to tie it into the Atherstone booktown project. The site has previously gained planning permission for three story houses and offices, but it's felt that a retail outlet is more appropriate for a town centre site.

What a fantastic idea for McDonalds to come to Atherstone This will be the start of Atherstone being put 'on the map' The Book Town idea is good, but for a hugely successful multi-national company to want to come here is just what the doctor ordered Just think, Wetherspoons,M&S, BhS, TKMaxx,Matalan, the possibilities are endless
