I am proposing to start an Atherstone in Bloom competition for the town.
It will need a group of individuals to form a committee and a judging committee.
It will need sponsorship from local companies to work. We'll need prizes as an incentive, an event to award those prizes and a venue.

Atherstone In Bloom 2008
The Competition
Entry is open to all residents in the Atherstone area.
So what are we looking for besides a weed-free zone? recognition is awarded to the hard work and thought that is given to even the smallest backyard... a 'show-garden' will not necessarily score top marks so, if you feel that your garden doesn't measure up to competition level, think again!
A community competition wouldn't be complete without the town's businesses and pubs, some contributing with hanging baskets and sponsorship.
You And The Environment
The judges will be looking to award extra marks for concern for the environment. Water conservation, composting, wildlife areas or recycling...everyone can do their bit
Judging
Our judges teams will visit early in july. You will be notified of the judging dates and times.
Presentation Of Awards
Awards Ceremony will be held at the Athersone Red Lion Hotel, Long Street, Atherstone in September.
Prizes
Besides special awards for 'conservation' and 'Best New Entrant' judges will be looking to acknowledge 'community effort' - for the best neighbourhood display.
Competitions
Return completed form by Friday 22nd of June 2008.
