Four Atherstone organisations are to get a share of £1,350 thanks to members of the town council. Atherstone Youth Marching Band, North Warwickshire Volunteer Centre, Circles Network and the Atherstone Chamber of Trade and Commerce, each submitted an application to the Section 137 Small Grants fund giving details as to how their projects will benefit the people of the town. The selected schemes included a website, literature and promotion and new furniture. "The Town Council was very pleased to receive the applications from organisations which are so clearly benefiting the town," explained chair of the town council, Cllr Ruby Chambers. "Each year the Town Council has a fund for local organisations to bid into, and is delighted to be able to make these awards to help our community." The next round of funding will be allocated in February 2007. Application forms may be obtained from the Town Council by writing to PO Box 2000, Atherstone CV9 1YN, or by calling into the office at The Old Mortuary, North Street weekdays between 9.30-11am and the first Saturday of each month between 10am and 12pm.
