I'm new to the site. I live in Seattle but my Grandfather was from Atherstone (immigrated to the states in 1904). He was one of 14 siblings and the only one that left Atherstone. I plan to visit for the first time this summer.
Enjoyed reading all your post and look forward to visiting your town.

Last name is Bostock. Other than the town, is the name familiar?

Yes I've heard of that name. I'll have to ask my nan, she's full of old stories. Shame she's not internet friendly, i'd love to get her chatting on here.

Madhatter,
You've been quite lately. Did you ever talk with your Nan?
My flight is booked for the U.K. I'll be in Atherstone for a couple of days between August 1st and 5th.
Hope your around for a pint. Do you actually know some of the other site members, Spud, Spartacus, CV9 etc.?

Hi Bosco. Glad to see you are looking forward to visiting the town. I read your article in the local newspaper the other day actualy. I presume your grandad was william. Im sure he did the right thing ot emigrate as many did around that time. His younger brother brought shame to the family unfortunately to the point where we born & bred atherstonians hitherto have assosiated the name of bostock with only one chap sadly. It would be great to meet up with you briefly when you come over next week. I keep the confectionary store at 63 Long St among other things and eat drink & breath the history of atherstone people. Im currently trying to finish the writing of a book abou t these folk and will of course mention those who set sail for pastures new at the turn of the 20th century. best wishes. Pav.

HI Pav,
Thanks for the reply. I will definately stop by your store while I'm there and say hello.
I interested to know about the Brother who caused problems for our family, that is quite disturbing.
I did not see my letter in any paper while on-line. Can you tell me which paper it was printed in?
Regards,
Bosco
