Several instances of vandalism have been reported recently by train drivers along the Atherstone stretch of the line. Last night and tonight Tuesday 29th September Trains hit objects deliberately placed on the track and subsequent trains forced to go slow after emergency speed limits were placed on the track section.
Brickwork and coping stones have also been dislodged and smashed on the station platforms.
People are asked to be vigilant if passing and report anything suspicious to British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40.

I've just been for a walk under the cattle arch and 3 of the led up-lighters that light under the bridge have been smashed. All of them are off making the bridge very dark.
There seems to be a lot of vandalism done at that end of the town, a lot of it very willful and purposefull that must take quite a bit of effort to achieve. It's important that anyone seeing suspicious behaviour report it immediately to the police and or transport police so that they can be caught and stopped.
I'm sure the appropriate council, which I believe is the town council will have them repaired but it will be at taxpayers expense.
