There is a population of over 12,000 foreign prisoners in our jails at this present time, this figure has risen by a fifth in the last year according to the conservative party. There are 1,500 Jamaicans, over 1000 Nigerians and a large amount of Irish prisoners. They cost this country more than 400 million a year to keep them and if only half were sent home to serve their sentences it would solve our prison problems in a stroke.
Should we repatriate them ?
If we repatriate them is it fair that they may serve a lot longer sentences than they would have served in this country for crimes they did in this country ?
