Those big-browed bovver boys Hard Fi come from somewhere called Staines and they're always banging on about how their less than perfect homeland inspired them to pick up stuff and make a racket, like the one heard on their new single, 'Better Do Better'. Anyway, inspired by the 'Fi's griping we found 20 of the dankest, grimmest and indeed grimiest crevices, crannies and armpits of places that have raised our favourite popstrels. The Love Bites in Atherstone!
20. Atherstone, Warwickshire: The Love Bites
Atherstone in North Warwickshire has more shanty card shops and six-toed monsters than anywhere else in Blighty. Fact. We know this because, as a child, we were sent there every week until we screamed for mercy.
What would have made our weekly excursions more bearable is if we had bumped into impish locals The Love Bites. Oh the larks we could have had! Dyeing boys' eyebrows blue and then punching them in the snoz. We probably would've been asked to be the fifth member of the Love Bites and rewritten pop history. Gah.
