From the North Warwickshire West Safer Neighbourhoods Team
On Wednesday 23rd June 2010, PCSO 6162 Gavin SCOTT, PCSO 6129 Caroline McMURCHIE, PCSO 6117 Jane OWEN and PCSO 6067 Pete BEALE from the Safer Neighbourhood Team at Coleshill Police Station worked alongside the Community Payback Scheme and North Warwickshire Street Wardens to carry out a large scale clean up in Hurley village. As part of the continuing efforts to remove unsightly rubbish from the village the team cleaned up the Ash Path, the old disused railway line and the waste ground behind the High Street.
Two skips funded by the Kingsbury Parish Council and Hurley Committee Association were supplied and both were filled to their full capacity removing the large amounts of rubbish that have been fly tipped at the locations over the years. PCSO 6162 Gavin SCOTT commented, "Fly tipping is an offence which should not be tolerated, and I would encourage any residents in any area that witness fly tipping to report it to the Police and North Warwickshire Borough Council."
The Safer Neighbourhood Team would like to thank the kind residents of Hurley and Mr Surj Sandhu, the owner of the local shop in Hurley for supplying cold drinks to the workers, keeping them cool on a very hot day!
Another clean up in Hurley is planned for Wednesday 14th July.
