An end to council housing for life? 90,000 people currently live in ‘inherited’ social housing at a cost of £300 million a year. New government proposals aim to phase this out by regularly assessing tenants needs as England’s social housing budget faces a 50% cut. Is this a fair way of dealing with the housing problem?

I'd love to know the logic to it.
I wasn't aware that me having a council flat was some sort of government benefit that I should lose if i get enough money to rent privately. I thought I'd earned the right through paying taxes and waiting on a long list for years.
Thatcher gave us the right to buy, now the same government have taken away the right to to rent it. That's completely illogical to me and totally avoids the main cause of of the housing shortage which is immigration. Stop people coming into this country willy nilly and stop them taking the facilities off people that have paid taxes for years in order to pay for them.
