Coventry Christmas lights switch on
This popular and exciting event will take place on Sunday November 21 and will feature live music and many other events in the city centre.
The countdown to Christmas has now begun and Coventry is set for another family day out full of festive excitement. Sunday 21 November will see a dazzling switch on extravaganza right across the city centre. Mercia FM weekend show hosts Sam and Mark will be on hand to get the festive proceedings underway at 3:30pm. Entertainment and fun for kids of all ages and size will be taking place and headlining the event will be Indie-pop group The Hoosiers. They are no strangers to playing in front of large crowds after appearing at several festivals, they will be entertaining the crowds as they play live on the Travelodge balcony 3 years after they burst onto the music scene with the massive top 5 hits "Worried about Ray" and "Goodbye Mr. A" both taken from the chart topping album "The trick to Life". The London based three piece indie pop band is sure to draw in the crowds and get the party atmosphere well and truly started.
Joining them on stage will be guest appearances from former Hollyoaks star and Coventry girl, Melissa Walton who played Loretta Jones in the hit show and sporting stars from Coventry City FC, Coventry Blaze and Coventry Jets. Coventry based filmmaker Debbie Isitt and child stars from the hit film "Nativity" will be performing a selection of songs ahead of the film being released on DVD.
There will be a whole host of special walkabout guest appearances from some of TV's popular characters including everybody's favourite penguin PINGU who will join Melissa and the Lord Mayor Brian Kelsey, to hit the switch and illuminate the city's streets once again.

Join us in the town centre for the ceremonial switching-on of the Hinckley Christmas Lights, which will be followed by a firework display over St Mary's Church.
The festive celebrations will be accompanied by the Tin Hat Fair* on Regents Street providing fun for all the family plus, the regular favourite Santa and his live reindeer will be on Castle Street together with a variety of stalls.
* The Tin Hat Fair will also be running on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 November 2010.

The Mercia Coventry Christmas Lights Switch On takes place on Sunday 21st November with Warwick District Council, and we don’t want you to miss it!
We’ll be at the top of the parade for our 2010 Christmas Lights event in Leamington Spa, and we’d love it if you were there.
It’s your chance to join us as we turn on the Leamington Christmas Lights and say hello to the festive season.
The event is taking place from around 12pm – 7pm with plenty of live performers.
Plus, for the kids, there will be an appearance from Mother Goose and fun and entertainment for the whole family.

No Christmas Light Switch-On would be complete without a visit from Father Christmas ..... he will arrive on his sleigh (of course) at 5 p.m. then he will retire to his Grotto - in the Town Hall (free to enter) on the evening ready to take note of all of those Christmas wishes and this year he will be accompanied by a couple of his trusty reindeer!

There will be an opportunity to have your picture taken with Santa, which you can purchase on the night.
Stage entertainment starts from 5pm
Local Schools , The Town Band, The Choral Society will all be performing.
There will be reindeer in Church Street

Tamworth officially is taken over by the festive season on Saturday 20 November. With a host of activities and performance taking place around the town centre this years Christmas Lights offers families the ideal opportunity to join in the Christmas spirit. The event runs across the whole day from 12noon until 5pm with the grand lights switch on at 5pm.
