Villages in Warwickshire are being urged to make a name for themselves. The Rural Communities Council have introduced a competition to help communities celebrate their achievements and lead them into the Calor Village of the year competition. The Warwickshire Best Village of the year competition has just been launched and information has been sent to the county's villages inviting them to enter. The search is now beginning for Warwickshire's Calor Village of the Year 2008. Organisers have updated their competitions so that the focus is on the work villagers do to sustain their community to highlight and celebrate their achievements. They're also encouraging communities that have not participated in previous years to get involved. Later in 2008, one of the winning villages from Warwickshire will have the added honour of being nominated to go forward and represent their county in the prestigious Calor Village of the year for England Competition 2008/9. This will give the village the opportunity of gaining recognition at national level as well as a share of a prize fund totalling more than £40,000. Entry forms for the 2008 competition can be downloaded from www.ruralwarwickshire.org.ukClosing date is Friday May 30th.
