Christmas is almost upon us again, and what better way to kick-off the festivities than by bringing the family to enjoy the annual Christmas Light Switch-On and Tin Hat Fair on Friday 23rd November 2012.

Festivities begin at 4.00 pm, and the lights will be switched on at 6.00 pm on the corner opposite HSBC bank. There will be lots of attractions such as a Christmas Market, Live Reindeer, Late-Night Openings, Hog Roast, Mulled Wine and Live Entertainment throughout the evening.

Christmas music and carols, children's rides, hog roast, mulled wine, local craft stalls, local food producers, home-made chutney, jams and jellies, local artists and artisan bakers.

Wasn't a bad event. Had a good selection of foods, interesting ones, unusual meats, wok stir fried chicken wings, a hog roast, lots of crafts, all outdoors, jewellery, soaps, cakes, flowers, mugs, lots of things.
Lack of torches on the torch parade, no real entrance to the event, about 200 people congregated back on the garage on the car park and snaked its way across the fields to the abbey but once those cleared by 7 ish maybe half 7 an hour and half to two hours ish , the crowds dropped right off . There was no real entrance to the event, the path from the gate house wasn't lit and the gate house itself wasnt lit. no advertisement. could have been so much more for so little effort had they sought advice of those with experience of night events. The rest of the site was lit up great.
Nice little event with a lot of potential.
