Thieves attempt to steal burger van cash, Atherstone
Incident 202 of 3 August 2013
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen thieves attempting to steal cash from a burger van in Carlyon Road industrial estate in Atherstone at around midday on Saturday 3 August to please contact them.
The incident is believed to have occurred when the burger van was closing for the day. Another customer came to the side of the van and when the man who was serving turned his back to him, he took the opportunity to reach through an open door for the till. The burger van man managed to restrain the suspected thief on the floor before he was kicked by a second male and the two suspects ran off. Nothing was stolen.
The two males are believed to have got into a white transit van and driven off in the direction of the sandwich factory.
The man serving, suffered a small cut to his hand.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone who can help them identify the suspects to please contact them.
Both males were wearing short-sleeved fluorescent jackets and are believed to be eastern European.
The main suspect is described as white, medium build 5’10 tall, in his late 20’s to early 30’s with dark jelled hair spiked at the front. He was wearing a short sleeved fluorescent jacket, grey T-shirt and blue jeans and trainers with no socks.
Patrols have been increased in the area to reassure local businesses.
Any witnesses are please asked to contact Acting DS 1570 Alan Gardner in Nuneaton Local Investigation on 01926 415000 ext 3108 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
