Can I search the forum?
Yes, You can search for any word or words, several words or a whole phrase.
You can search in all posts, posts by admin, post by a member or whole threads posted in by a member
you can search any board, several boards or all boards
You can search in the subject, or post, and limit the days and hours that you search back.
To access the main search feature, click on the "search" link at the top of most pages.
You can search any forum that you have permission to search - you will not be allowed to search through private forums unless the administrator has given you the necessary security rights to do so.
You can also click search on the boards or thread that you want to search, by clicking search at the top or bottom left of a board or thread, this opens a pop up box, where you can enter a word to search for, either in the subject or message, and how many results you want to view.
Can I send email to other members?
Yes! To send an email to another member, you can either locate the member you want to contact on the members list and click on the email icon in the right hand extras column, or click the Email button under the Author section on any post made by that member, or click the email icon or email address in their profile.
This will usually open a page that contains a form where you can enter your message. When you have finished typing your message, press the [send email] button and your message will be sent instantly.
Note that if you can not find an email icon or link for a member, it means that the member in question has specified that they do not wish to receive email from other members of the forum.
Another useful email function is the ability to send a friend a link to a thread you think they may find interesting. Whenever you view a thread, you will find a link at the top right and bottom right of each post which will allow you to send a brief message to anyone you like. Fill in your friends Name and replace 'user@domain.com' with their email address in the yellow boxes
Registered members are also be able to send messages to other members of this forum using the private messaging system. For more information about private messaging, see below.
What is Private Messaging?
The administrator has enabled the Private Messaging system, registered members may send each other private messages.
Sending Private Messages
Private messages work a little like email, but are limited to registered members of this forum. You may be able to include UBBC Code, smilies and images in private messages that you send.You also have the ability to send the message to multiple members putting john, fred, bill in the 'to' field.
You may send a private message to a member of this forum by either locating the member you want to contact on the members list and clicking on the private message icon in the right hand extras column, or by clicking the Send Private Message Icon in the Author section on any post made by that member, or click the email icon in their profile.

When you send a message, a copy of the message is Sent to your outbox folder.

The Outbox folder contains a copy of any messages that you have sent.
Each folder has a set of message controls which allow you to select a message or messages, by selecting a tick box and to delete the selected messages
You will need to periodically delete old messages, as the administrator has probably set a limit to the number of private messages you can have in your folders. If you exceed the number of messages specified by the administrator, you will not be able to send or receive new messages until you delete some old messages.
Whenever you read a message, you will have the option to delete a message, reply to the message, or reply quoting the original both have the option to forward that message to another member of the forum. You may also have the ability to forward that message to multiple members putting john, fred, bill in the 'to' field.
Message Tracking
Each folder has a status column which gives the status of the messages in that folder.
The Inbox folder shows a icon for an unread message, a icon for a read message and a icon for a message that has been replied to.
The outbox folder shows a icon for a message not yet read by the recipient and a icon for a message that has been read by a recipient
How do I use the Member List?
The member list contains a complete list of all the registered members of this forum. You can view all of the member list ordered alphabetically by username, by individual letter, or by the number of posts the members have made, you can also view staff members.
How do I use the calendar?
The calendar functions in a way similar to the forums, click on new event and fill in a post title and specify a date. Your post title goes on the calendar on the date that you specify when writing the post.
To view an event, you click on the post title on the calendar and it opens that post. Multiple events on the same day will have multiple titles on the calendar, just click the one you want. All events can be viewed by clicking on view all events. This will bring up a list of dates and event titles.
The administrator may have enabled registered members to post events, but usually this is not the case. (currently enabled)
Titles of events in the current month also appear at the bottom of Forum Home Page in the Info Center.
Your birthday will automatically be shown on the calendar if you have selected 'yes' to show your age in your profile. Note: if you do not show your age when you edit your profile, your age will not be shown on the calendar.
If you select 'yes', your name will also appear at the bottom of the forum Home page when it is your birthday.
What are announcements?
Announcements are special messages posted by the administrator or moderators. They are designed to be a simple one-way communication with the users. If you wish to discuss announcements, you will have to create a new thread in the forum, since you cannot reply to announcements.
What is karma
Karma is a system of rating a persons posts, clicking 'exalt' at the bottom of the Author section on a members post will increase their Karma points by one, and clicking 'Smite' will increase their Karma by one point. You may only modify a member's karma once each hour. Smite - to chastise, To criticize. Exalt - To glorify, praise.
